The Watchmen movie starts with the brutal murder of one of the erstwhile masked fighter. The government initiates an investigation into the killing. The fighters now re-unite to prevent any further damage and in the process discover a far more demonic plot. For the next 160 minutes you will witness full blown action and the viewers are slowly introduced to the characters such as the Minutemen. The audience will never find it difficult to follow the story as the progress of the movie is quite simple.

The movie is really good and has been appreciated in all circles. The main strong point of the film is the casting. It is perfect and you will fall in love with each one of them. Even the smaller characters do their roles well such as the news vendor and the reading boy.

The main characters in the film get introduced as the film progresses and each one is given maximum screen space possible so that the audience gets acquainted with each one of them. The performances of the actors are really good and Patrick Wilson deserves a special mention. His role as Dan Dreiber has earned him accolades all over. Malin Akerman as Silk Spectre II was also very impressive.

The fight scenes in the film are much longer than what is depicted in the book but they are not drab or dull and do not seem to be out of context. Because of the amount of violence the film has got a rating of 18+ in UK. There is frontal nudity in the film too so the mature certificate is definitely justified.

The special effects in this film deserve special mention. Dr. Manhattan and Mars look awesome and the mask on Rorschach is fun to watch. The film is shot in lots of colors which make it fun to watch. The soundtrack of the film is good and reminds you of that period. These songs might not work in other movies, you might argue, but definitely works here.

Watchmen is, no doubt, one of the better films of the year. Zack Snyder deserves a special mention for his efforts and you can actually watch this movie a second time if you prefer.
